Member Districts.

According to Title 92 of the Nebraska Administrative Code, Chapter 84: Section 002.11 a member school district is defined as any school district which is a member of an educational service unit.  Any Joint school district located in two or more counties of said ESU shall be considered a member of the Educational Service Unit in which the greater number of school-age children of such joint school district reside. ​

Fifty three staff members, housed in and across the 10 member school districts, utilize innovate and visionary ideas to support the 5,300 students and 459 staff members found in Gage, Jefferson and Thayer counties.  More information on each individual districts demographic, academic and other data can be found below

Our Mission

With educational innovation for teaching and learning as our mission, it is our intent to encourage and provide opportunities for staff to create and develop quality programs for member school districts.  With support and approval from the Board and resourceful, creative, and visionary leadership, we believe that together we can meet this goal. ​

Beatrice Public Schools:  Student Population: 2,122

The mission of Beatrice Public Schools, a student-focused family, is to provide a foundation that equips every student with the tools to pursue their goals and contribute to society through purposeful and relevant educational experience built around strong relationships. Beatrice Public Schools is a PK-12 district with about 2100 students who attend a community preschool, three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Assessment of student achievement occurs at the elementary, middle, and high school grade levels for reading, math, science, and social studies skills. For grades K-12, the district utilizes the MAP / NSCAS assessment along with the PreACT assessment in grade 10. This information combined with classroom assessments gives a complete picture of how our students are performing.

Bruning Davenport Unified

Bruning-Davenport Unified School District is a district of 178 students with PK-1 and grades 9-12 in Bruning and grades 2-8 in Davenport. This is our 22 year of the unification agreement between Bruning and Davenport. 17 miles separate the two school sites. The district has 28 full-time and two administrators. We coop athletics with Shickley Public Schools in all athletic programs. We provide online dual-credit options in multiple curricular areas through SENCAP and local colleges. BD USD has a 1:1 laptops for grades K-12. We create opportunities for our students to enhance their 21st century skills through technology. B-D is 1 of only 28 districts state wide to earn a state classification of excellent. We were awarded the Great Schools College Success Award. Only 1,722 public high schools nationally received this award which recognizes and celebrates public high schools preparation for post secondary success.

Deshler Public Schools

.PK-12 enrollment is 252 students, with a teaching staff of 28. Elementary is a K-6, with one section of each grade level per teacher. At the secondary level, there are two teachers for each of the core curriculum areas. A wide variety of learning opportunities exist in the areas of Fine Arts, Industrial Tech, Applied Arts, Business Education, Foreign Language, Computer Tech, and Physical Education.  Math can be taken as an is an accelerated program in which Eighth-grade students take Algebra I for high school credit and then move through the math courses at a greater pace in high school. This allows additional upper-level courses in Math to be taken during the junior and senior years. as student interest increases.  Freshmen may take Biology and General Science.  Deshler Public Schools maintains a staff of 26 teachers and a 100% graduation rate 

Diller Odell Public Schools:

Diller-Odell Public Schools is a consolidated district that was organized on April 2, 2000. The Diller and Odell communities are twelve miles apart and the district covers approximately 170 square miles in southern Gage and Jefferson Counties. Our current k-6 enrollment at the Diller site is 134 students, and the 7-12 enrollment at the Odell site is 110 students. Preschool enrollment is at 14 students.  Diller Odell offers a wide variety of curricular options for students during their high school years and prides itself on high achievement on the ACT and other required state tests.  Diller Odell has 26 teachers an an attendance rate of 96%. We enjoy tremendous community support. 

Fairbury Public Schools

​Fairbury School District had a PreK-12th grade population of 900 students at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Students are divided into a PreK-2 building; a 3-6 building and a 7-12 building. All buildings are located in the city of Fairbury, which has a population of 3942. Fairbury is a rural community located in the southeastern part of Nebraska along the banks of the Little Blue River. It was founded in 1869. Fairbury is the county seat of Jefferson County. We currently employ 70 teachers.  Fifty-one percent of our students are considered free and reduced, and we have a 4% ELL population.  Our attendance rate sits right at 92% and we have 16% of our student verified with a disability. 

Freeman Public Schools

Freeman Public Schools is a rural PK-12 district created by the consolidation of Adams and Filley Public Schools in 1998. The school, located in Adams, is approximately 25 miles southeast of Lincoln. Freeman's PK-12 student population is approximately 450 students. Freeman's PK-6 Elementary school has 16 regular classroom teachers (2 sections of all grades). Each core area in the 7-12 school has two teachers because of a fast-growing enrollment. Freeman has designed & implemented an assessment process including a balanced system of ongoing classroom periodic criterion-referenced and a norm-referenced assessment. Assessment has been a major focus of our district.

Meridan Public Schools:

Meridian Public School is a consolidated K-12 school consisting of approximately 165 students and located two miles west of Daykin, Nebraska. Our school district is made up of four communities that are located in three different counties: Alexandria, Daykin, Tobias, and Western. Our school has 28 certified staff members. The Meridian school district developed an assessment process that includes a battery of on-going classroom assessments, periodic criterion referenced assessments, and norm-referenced assessments. Because assessment has become a strong focus for our district, we are using the Six Quality Criteria and other assessment materials to write and administer these instruments. 

Southern Public Schools

Southern Public Schools is a progressive D-1 district with 384 students in grades PK-12. Southern is located in Wymore and Blue Springs, Nebraska in the southeastern part of the state. In 1968 the current district was created with the consolidation of the five communities of Wymore, Blue Springs, Barneston, Holmesville, and Liberty, along with much of their outlying area. Wymore is located south of Lincoln and eight miles north of the Kansas border. The Wymore & Blue Springs communities are located within a mile of each other and are home to two schools, Southern Elementary School (4-year-old preschool & K-6) and Southern Jr./Sr. High School (7-12). The 3-year-old preschool program is located in Blue Springs.

Thayer Central Public Schools

Thayer Central Community School is a class C-2 district located in the south central part of the state. Thayer Central’s total enrollment PreK – 12 is 425 students. In 2001-2002, the school districts of Hebron Public Schools and Chester-Hubbell-Byron Public Schools unified. The following school year (2002-2003) the districts merged into one. Hebron is home to Thayer Central’s elementary (PreK - 6) and, middle/high school (7 - 12)buildings. Thayer Central has 38 full-time teachers with a 32% free and reduced lunch rate, 18% of students verified as needed special education service.  We pride ourselves on having a 96% graduation rate and a 95% attendance rate.  

Tri County Public Schools

The Tri County School District was formed when the towns of DeWitt, Plymouth, Swanton and rural districts consolidated to form a district of 232 square miles in Jefferson, Gage, and Saline Counties. The district enrollment is 428 (PreK-12) students. The staff includes 3 administrative positions, 41 teachers, 37 classified staff members, 1 Community Counselor, and part-time nursing staff. Tri County Schools has a long tradition of rich academic and activity programs that span from the formation of the district until the present day. The operating budget for the district is $10,556,633 with assessed valuation of $851,411,529.
